Robert G. D. Alexander 1875 – 1945
Robert Alexander was one of several British artists whose work was influenced and enriched by that of Eugene Boudin, across the Channel. Alexander’s best works were watercolours and pastels of shimmering seascapes peopled by elegantly dressed ladies and their families. He was a gifted draughtsman and a sensitive colourist. He often worked on the Essex and Suffolk coasts, at times in the company of Wilson Steer.
