HUGH WEBSTER

Hugh Webster's studio is a converted boat shed on the beach at Felixstowe Ferry, with sweeping views up the Deben estuary. The landscape of the Suffolk and Essex coastline is one of the major inspirations for his painting.

Working mainly in oils, his paintings derive from the landscape, the people and creatures which live and work within it and their stories and myths. 'At best I hope to create a synthesis of my experiences and emotions, the colours, form and movement of the landscape, and the natural and human drama that continually change and reshape it'.

Hugh was born in Harwich in 1963 and trained at the Norwich School of Art. He has had exhibitions at Gainsborough's House, Sudbury, Thompson’s and the Peter Pears Gallery in Aldeburgh and in London, Ireland and Spain.
